High School Saturday Art Studio (Grades 7-12)

These studio workshops are designed to foster creativity, to instill disciplined work habits and prepare middle and high school students for work or college. Students work with K12 Teaching Artists, professional artists whose love of their fields inspires them to share their skills and time with creative youth. |

Art Club Pass for four Saturdays - $60 per member or $100 per non-member; $25 per individual workshop |

Glass Beads K12 Teaching Artist Kelly Smith teaches students how to manipulate glass with heat to form unique glass beads for jewelry design. |

October 2011 |
Pottery Lauren Gruber, K12 teaching artist, teaches students to use traditional techniques of throwing and building while exploring new ideas. |

November 2011 |
Painting and Drawing: Contemporary Artists Learn about contemporary artists while creating a series of samll paintings. Students will work from preliminary sketch to finished painting under direction of K12 Teaching Artist Rebecca Sargent |

Surrealist Design and Photo Collage Use Digital photography and other media to creat a fanastical collage. Using artists like Salvador Dali and Marcel Duchamp as inspiration, students will release their inner surrealist guided by K12 teaching artist Tiffany Clark. |

Glass Beads Glass Artist Kelly Smith teaches students to use heat to manipulate glass to create unique handmade jewelry. |

Stained Glass Glass Artist Matt Warvel explores image design in stained glass while demonstrating the techniques of glass making. |

Printmaking Create unique print designs in linoleum, woodcut and screenprint with teaching artist Donovan Hahn |

Mosaic** K12 Teaching artist Jessica McMillan teaches students the art of mosaic, from materirals manipulation to creating a cohesive image from small peices of glass. **This class extended to 2pm, please bring a sack lunch.

Raku Learn to throw pots on a wheel, add hand elements to create a unique design to be raku glazed and fired in a special raku kiln. With K12 Teaching artist Jonathan Stumps. |
