Artists in Training

For students in grades 7-12

Sponsored by Lexis-Nexis and a significant anonymous contributor

These classes prepare middle and high school students for college. Class hours are Monday through Thursday from 3:00 to 5:30 pm. A portfolio review is necessary to participate in the Artist in Training Program. In 2009, the AIT Students created "Lincoln's Legacy: How the Law Influenced His Presidency". The exhibit opened on Law Day (May 1) on Old Courthouse Square and then went to the University of Dayton Law School and last to Fairfield Commons Mall.

Monthly critiques are scheduled for the last Monday of each month to give our students real-life working experiences. We teach both the inspiration and application of art and also how to use creative intelligence in the workplace. This allows students to truly experience different perspectives and points of view to help transition them to college or professional careers. Snacks are served. Program dates are year round.

Through generous support from our sponsors, the AIT program is free to all Dayton urban students. We do ask parents to become members for $40 for individual membership or $75 at the family level; this is a once-a-year commitment.
